This cute little character is one of the new SCACD digital releases called Steampunk Hermit. The fun sentiment "Life is Beachy" comes with him.
I had fun coloring him with Copic markers after printing him out on a piece of GP 110 white cardstock. He was colored to look like copper, bronze and gold. The blue green is oxidized copper.
The background was created using stencils. The water was made by sponging The Crafter's Workshop Mini Texturized Stencil with Stampin' Up! Pool Party and Bermuda Bay dye inks. Since the stencil has 8 different mini patterns on it, the sand was created by using a different pattern on this stencil as well as using the Tim Holtz layered stencil Speckled Background. These stencils were sponged in a variety of brown and reddish brown Ranger Distress and Stampin' Up! dye inks. Both areas were then completely colored over with Copic markers. Blue greens for the top and blue green and browns for the sandy ocean floor. The little strips on the side are some scraps I had left over from trimming the main image piece and from the Cajun Craze cardstock mat. The other mats are Bermuday Bay and Tempting Turquoise cardstock from Stampin' Up!.
The coral was made using Susana's Ornate Hinge die colored with Copics. The gears are from the Memory Box Dies Mini Gears and Gear Works Border, which I cut apart. These were also colored with Copics. The design paper used in the background is from the Prima 6" x 6" Seashore Paper Pad.
Be sure to check out the rest of the fun new digital images over at Susana's. I'll be back in a few days with another one of the fabulous new digital images she recently released over at her shop
