Fabulouse New SCACD Digi Release - STEAMPUNK SIREN

SCACD has released 15 NEW Digital Images designed by Carmen Medlin for SCACD. There is a bit of something for everyone in this release. Some fantasy, steampunk, wonderland, curiosities and animals to love. You can find just the right image for that creative spark of yours and let your inner artist out to play.

Two of my favorite themes to stamp are Steampunk and the ocean.  This new SCACD digi Steampunk Siren combines them both so I had lots of fun working on this piece.  I started by printing her on Copic X-Press It white cardstock and coloring her with Copic markers.  I used a technique with tiny blue green dots to give the impression of scales in several places on her skin.   I kept the color scheme for this piece to blue-greens, copper/rust and gold/brass.  In fitting with the steampunk theme, I colored her gorgeous flowing hair a coppery red with bits of blue green to look like oxidized copper.  The coral is also copper as is the ball she is holding.

The background is colored with blue green Copics and then colored over again very lightly with criss-crossing horizontal lines to look a bit like shimmery water.   The background paper is from the Prima Seashore 6" x 6" pad.

Three of Susana's SCACD dies are used for this piece.  The Top left corner uses one of the Garden Corners dies that is heat embossed with Ranger's Antiquities Verdigris embossing powder.  I thought it looked a bit like a steampunk version of seaweed.  The bottom left uses her Ornate Hinge die, which is heat embossed with Ranger's Antiquities Rust powder. I think it looks a bit like steampunk coral made from copper.  The bottom right corner uses her Dandelion Knoll Statement Corner die heat embossed in Verdigris.  The gears are Memory Box Mini Gears and Gearworks Border embossed in copper and gold.  The dandelion die combined with the gears looks a bit like steampunk sea anemone might look.

Be sure to stop over at Susana's Custom Art and Card Design and check out the rest of the fantastic new digital images she just released.  I'll be back in a few days with a couple more of these great new releases to share with you.

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by.
Susan

This is beyond awesome. I love the way you colored her. You achieved such a great depth of color and of course I love the color scheme.

The way you used the die-cut corners and hinge is genius. I so totally love that you heat embossed them with Verdigris and Copper. Those Antiquities embossing powder are just perfect. I just wish that Ranger still made the whole line!

But I digress. This is just perfect. I love, Love, LOVE it!
