It's Your Day - Sing Your Own Song Collage Birthday

A musical collage birthday card for a musically and artistically talented stamping friend. We were kind of playing with working on both collage stamping and using mixed media a few weeks ago at a 4 day stamping event.  I decided to try making her a birthday card using collage.  It was supposed to be mixed media too, but I still am not quite comfortable in that area - it is so completely different from my usual style.  I decided to use bright cheerful, and vibrant colors after such a long, cold and drab winter.

It's a larger card that fits exactly in a 6" x 9" envelope after matting it on black cardstock. The images are stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black and Memento Tuxedo Black inks and colored with Copic markers.  The background is partially colored with Copics and partially sponged with Ranger Distress Inks.  For a finishing touch I spritzed it using Stampin' Up! markers and a spritzer.

For the inside of the card, I just quickly stamped a few fun images to continue the music theme.  These are colored with Copics and a gold metallic gel pen.

Snow is melting quickly - down to a foot and a half on our back deck!! :)
Looking forward to looking out the window and seeing blue water instead of ice on Lake Huron any day now.
Have a great rest of the week.

What a fabulous card! I love the outside because it's so bright and colorful. You've definitely captured the "Mixed Media" feel, even if you didn't get all messy.

The inside of the card is fantastic too. I love the band members, especially the robot!
