Field of Hearts

I know it's a bit late to be posting a Valentine. This one was started before Valentine's Day, but it got set aside and forgotten til last week when I was going through some unfinished projects to work on during a semi-annual four day stamping weekend conveniently hosted here in town.

I started it at our monthly stamping group meeting.  Another stamper and I were playing around with the idea of sponging with a negative mask (Stampin' Up's Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit) using the limited color choices we had with us at the time..  This combination of colors I came up with is a bit unusual for a Valentine, but I like it.

The old Basic Grey Design paper I've used for many projects, along with the Island Indigo and Early Espresso Stampin' Up card stock work perfectly for a mat with the Pool Party and Soft Suede Stampin' Up inks on the card.  Stampin' Up matching markers were used to highlight and shadow the stamping.

The edges of the main panel, grass and branches are sponged with Pool Party, Soft Suede, Island Indigo and Early Espresso inks.

Stamps used:
Stampin' Up - Filled With Love, Valentine defined
Inkadinkado - Branches With Berries - one of the Stamping Gear sets

So now I'm a card ahead for making next year's Valentines.

Thanks for stopping by.
Have a great weekend.

Hollyhocks and Flowery Fields

This card was for the 100 Proof Press Facebook "Blooms" challenge, which just ended yesterday.

With the late winter snowy, icy and blustery weather we've had recently, I decided a card with bright colors and lots of flowers might help cheer things up until spring arrives to stay for awhile.

100 Proof Press stamps used:
Hollyhocks #5281
Flowery Field #6143
Lady Lying in Grass #5859
Mother and Child on Grass #6138

Other Materials:
Copic and Stampin' Up markers, sponges, Judikins Eclipse Masking Tape, Stamp-a-Ma-Jig, scalloped circle punch used as mask to sponge the sky, Stampin" Up inks - Pink Passion, Pool Party, Baja Breeze, Marina Mist and Island Indigo, Memento Tuxedo Black ink

  • Stamped the hollyhocks in pink, colored with Copics and then with Stampin' Up markers for the details.
  • Masked the hollyhocks with Eclipse Tape and stamped the people in the grass with Memento black using a Stamp-a-Ma-Jig.  Colored the people with Copics, then masked them.
  • Stamped the flowery fields using a Stamp-a-Ma-Jig by coloring the stamp with Stampin' Up pink and green markers.  Repeated the Flowery Fields stamp by only coloring and stamping the larger flowers for the areas closest to the foreground.
  • Colored the areas around the flowers and people with Copics after removing the masks.
  • Sponged the sky using Stampin' Up blue inks listed above and the scallop circle mask.
  • Cut into three sections and sponged around all edges with Island Indigo before matting.

Thanks for stopping by.
Hopefully this card will inspire some springtime weather this week here in northern Michigan.
